In January in Wisconsin the scenery doesn’t change much.  The landscape is one color: white. The temperature is freezing, literally and figuratively. Some of us Wisconsinites run around outside sledding, shoveling, skiing, but most of us don’t. We sit inside and wait for spring to come.

Some of us creative folk turn to cooking as a winter-time hobby. We make vast amounts of high-calorie comfort food and consume it. But winter continues on, meanwhile our waistlines expand.
