March and Spring are here!

Daylight Savings springs forward – Sunday March 12

Wooden wall clock

Daylight will last an hour longer, right?

Well at least the evenings will last an hour longer.  Mornings will be a little slower to arrive.  But the worst of winter is behind us, warmer sunny days are finally here and the grass is greening up everywhere.  March also brings High School basketball championships.  The gals in Green Bay March 11 and the guys in Madison on the 18th.  Good luck to all the competitors.

  Saint Patrick’s Day – Friday March 17

Irish Cream Kringle

The Irish heritage folks here in Wisconsin celebrate this day with green beer, corned beef and cabbage along with stronger versions of Irish adult beverages.  And since it falls on a Friday this year I expect the celebrations to extend into the wee hours Saturday morning.

This Irish Cream Kringle from Wisconsinmade.com would be perfect for breakfast on Saturday along with some good coffee.  Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to one and all.

National Chocolate Caramel Day – Sunday March 19

Chocolate, Caramel and Pecan Turtles

You mean to tell me you don’t celebrate this day?  I know Hallmark does not make a card for this day, but many of my friends think it should be a national holiday.  These Chcolate, Caramel and Pecan Turtles from the New Glarus Bakery are a perfect way to celebrate the day with their traditional Swiss heritage.  You don’t have to share.  Enjoy.

Spring arrives – Monday March 20

This Spring Bulb Basket from Wisconsinmade.com gives you a chance to get an early jump on the season and enjoy some indoor gardening too.

So enjoy March in all its madness, basketball, chocolates and all things green.   And then it is April!

Is it Spring yet?

Warmer days – shorter nights

As Valentine’s Day approaches is chocolate the answer?  The temps are in the 40’s and this winter is looking like we might get by with minimal disruptions from Mother Nature.  The groundhog said six more weeks of winter, but it sure is feeling warmer, the days are longer and who knows – can the tulips be far behind?  Or has the winter just caused my brain to short circuit? Wisconsinmade is delighted at the support our customers and partner artisans have shown for our efforts to raise funds for Operation Gratitude.  Veterans Day November 11th is a great opportunity to remember those that have served our country.  military-1
Operation Gratitude sends care packages to our troops and their families in an effort to bring cheer and appreciation to those that servesupport-1.   Operation Gratitude annually sends 200,000+ care packages filled with food, entertainment, hygiene, and handmade items, plus personal letters of appreciation to Veterans, First Responders, New Recruits,  Wounded Heroes, their Care Givers, and to individually named U.S. service members deployed overseas and their families waiting at home. Wisconsinmade hopes to add enough new Facebook and Twitter fans to be able to donate $ 1,000.00 to this worthy organization.

Gratitude and thanks also form the basis for our Thanksgiving celebrations.  Wisconsinmade.com has many ways to help you with your Thanksgiving preparations.  But have you noticed that many folks and commercial establishments have already switched to the Christmas holiday decorations and products?  Trees, lights and toy lands are everywhere.  Still about 45 days away, but looking around the community it looks like it might be here next week.  If you would like to participate in this early shopping experience Wisconsinmade.com allows you to request a delayed delivery date for any of your gifts purchased on the site.

Veterans Day and Thanksgiving are days of gratitude and reflection for many of us.  We are grateful for many things including you our customers and fans of Wisconsinmade.com and for all our artisan partners who provide all these quality products that are available on Wisconsinmade.com that are all Made with Pride and Passion in Wisconsin
